Help support Scottish Dalmatian Welfare
As a registered charity, Scottish Dalmatian Welfare is totally dependent upon our coordinators and friends giving up their spare time on a voluntary basis to work for us along with donations received and any fundraising carried out.
We want to continue our work to ensure that every Dalmatian enjoys a happy and health life but we need your help to do it. There are many ways people can help, some of which we have outlined below.
Please read about the different ways you can help us and, if you feel you have something to offer, get in touch. We would love to hear from you!

Voluntary work for Scottish Dalmatian Welfare
We are staffed by a very small group of coordinators working on voluntary basis. All work is carried out in each coordinator's spare time and at their own personal expense.
Whilst they do what they can, our coordinators are sometimes required to travel long distances and/or work at short notice, which is not always convenient or possible. Whilst we would be delighted to hear from anyone who wishes to offer help, we would especially like to hear from people who live in outlying areas where travel times can be prohibitive for our current coordinators. If you decide to help us, one of our coordinators will make sure you know what to do, provide support and, of course, any necessary documents. Assessments prior to re-homingTypically this involves a visit to the current owner in order to view the dog and assess their behaviour and health. This helps us decide how to look after them in the interim and to match them to the most appropriate new owner.
Home checksEveryone who applies to adopt one of our Dalmatians must undergo a home check to assess their suitability to adopt. This involves a visit to their home to conduct a short inspection, interview and completion of a questionnaire.

Fostering a welfare Dalmatian |
Providing a foster home means taking a welfare Dalmatian to live with you in your own home and caring for them for a temporary period that may range from a few days to a few weeks.
All we ask is that you meet our fostering criteria, which is typically the same as we would expect from someone wishing to adopt a dalmatian, and that you monitor the behaviour of any Dalmatian in your care then let us know their likes / dislikes etc. In return Scottish Dalmatian Welfare will provide support and assistance during the fostering period to help you give the best care you 'temporary pet'.
Fostering is beneficial as it is much less stressful for the dog than if they have to temporarily live in kennels. Fostering also makes it easier to assess the dog's individual characteristics and behaviour in a home/family situation so we can better match them with prospective new owners.

Help with one of our events
From time to time we organise fundraising events, such as the Dally Rally.
Events require a big commitment from our coordinators because we need to arrange venues, promote the event, seek donations, make / bake things to sell, transport people / dogs / goods / equipment, run an event on the day and so on. Perhaps you could help with one or more of these? Keep an eye on our events and news page for details of upcoming events that you may be able to help us organise or run. |
Organise or take part in a fundraising event
|
You could help us be organising or taking part in a fundraising event and donating any money raised.
There are lots of ways you can raise money to help us. Perhaps you could do a sponsored walk? Or run in a race? Maybe you could hold a cake bake sale? Pack bags at the supermarket? Whatever you decide to do we really appreciate your support! To help with your event we have set up a fundraising page at BT-Mydonate. You can use this page as a way to accept donations or sponsorship and any money you receive will come straight to Scottish Dalmatian Welfare.
